Increased Rs. 20,000 Deepavali bonus for SPC, JEDB workers

The annual Deepavali bonus provided by state plantation companies to their employees has been increased to Rs. 20,000 this year, doubling from the previous amount of Rs.10,000, in recognition of the festival, which is celebrated with great enthusiasm by the Tamil community. Environment, Wildlife, Forest Resources, Water Supply, Plantations and Rural Infrastructure Ministry Secretary Prabath Chandrakeerthi said the bonus will be given to employees of the estates managed under the Elkaduwa Plantations and the Janatha Estates Development Board.

This increase was done in response to the current economic situation and the rising cost of living, which has impacted the purchasing power of workers. The decision reflects an effort to support the workforce amid these economic challenges.
