Major fire in Obeysekarapura vehicle service facility doused

A massive fire broke out at a vehicle service facility in the Obeysekerapura area in Rajagiriya yesterday morning (01).

Three firefighting vehicles belonging to the Fire Fighting Unit brought the blaze under control and doused the fire that erupted at the vehicle service facility in Rajagiriya by the Kotte Municipal Council and two fire engines had been deployed to the location by the Fire Brigade.

The fire that erupted in the vehicle service facility had also spread to a nearby housing complex as well which was later brought under control.

Residents were advised to avoid the area due to thick smoke emanated by flames and ongoing emergency response activities to douse the fire by the fire fighters.

There have been no casualties that were reported due to the fire and police authorities are yet to confirm the cause of the fire and the extent of damage caused by the fire, Police Media said.
