Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya reiterated that the National People’s Power (NPP) will do its best to heal the wounds of the war and all humanitarian assistance will be provided to the people affected by the civil strife.

The Premier also categorically mentioned that the NPP led Government will not offer Ministerial portfolios to members from other political parties who enter the Parliament at the forthcoming Parliamentary election.

Premier Harini Amarasuriya was on a campaign trail in Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi areas in the Northern Province on Monday (4).

The Premier outlined her parties’ future plans for the once war-torn areas in the North and pointed out clearly that the NPP will not stoop down to the level of offering portfolios to the members elected to the Parliament from other parties who had done nothing to the people in the past.

Premier Harini in her address at the Green Park in Kilinochchi said:“Certain politicians contesting at the forthcoming Parliamentary polls from other political parties are going around and telling a new story that once they enter the Parliament they would join the NPP and get the portfolios to serve the people. But the NPP with the symbol of compass will not accommodate anyone from other political parties in the new cabinet to be formed. We will give the portfolios to the right members elected from the NPP at the forthcoming Parliamentary polls.

Mentioning about the resettlement of the internally displaced persons and opening the roads which were closed for public transport in the North, Prime Minister pointed out that all roads which were closed in the past will be reopened in order to strengthen the reconciliation.
