Passport issue caused due to incorrect information provided by officials – Officers’ Association
The Sri Lanka Immigration and Emigration Officers’ Association has issued a special announcement regarding the problematic situation that arose recently in the issuance of foreign passports.
The statement issued yesterday (7) said that the public as well as President Anura Kumara Dissanayake were faced with undue inconvenience due to the prolonged delay of issuing foreign passports which occurred due to the incorrect information provided by the higher administration of the department. The Association has also indicated in the relevant announcement that it does not accept that this crisis can be resolved by maintaining the arbitrary activities of a few high-ranking people who obtained positions based on the allegiance of the old political authority.
It has been stated that it is the responsibility of the association to show the real situation at present as well as to reveal the identity of such officials who have put the public in trouble, and for that, a formal investigation should be carried out.
Sri Lanka Immigration and Emigration Association also claims that the statements issued by various parties regarding the problematic situation related to the issuance of Sri Lankan passports are contradictory and untrue.
