Minister instructs to complete Potuhera – Rambukkana Expressway by 2026 end
Minister Vijitha Herath has instructed the officials that the third phase of the Central Expressway, from Potuhera to Rambukkana, be completed by the end of 2026.
Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation Minister Vijitha Herath inspected the ongoing construction on the third section of the Central Expressway, stretching from Pothuhera to Rambukkana yesterday.
Emphasising the importance of this road project, he directed officials to ensure its completion by December 31, 2026.
Following the instructions of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to carry out road development efficiently, the timely completion of this section of the Central Expressway has become essential.
Under the guidance of Vijitha Herath, efforts are being made to minimise any existing obstacles to meet the year-end deadline.
Road Development Authority Chairman T. Paskaran, Director General S.M.P. Suriyabandara, Project Director Anuradha Hettiarachchi and other officials joined the inspection.
The project, which began on July 4, 2023, is estimated to cost Rs. 210 billion and spans a total of 32.4 kilometres from Pothuhera to Galagedara with four lanes.
