Professor Gishan Dissanayake Appointed Dean of Cambridge Judge Business School
Professor Gishan Dissanayake, originally from Sri Lanka, has been appointed as the new Dean of Cambridge Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge, following a rigorous international selection process. He will officially assume the role on December 1, 2024.
This marks the first time in three decades that the University has chosen an internal candidate for the position of Dean at the Business School.
Professor Dissanayake is a distinguished financial economist and currently holds the Adam Smith Professorship of Corporate Governance at the University of Cambridge. He has served as Interim Dean of Cambridge Judge since July 2023.
He completed his undergraduate studies (BA) at the University of Peradeniya in Sri Lanka before pursuing an MPhil and PhD in Economics at the University of Cambridge, where he was affiliated with the Faculty of Economics and Trinity College.
In addition to his longstanding tenure at Cambridge, Professor Dissanayake has held a visiting faculty role at Cornell University and has provided consultancy services to numerous global corporations, investment banks, and regulatory bodies.
With 30 years of experience as a faculty member at Cambridge Judge, Professor Dissanayake possesses an in-depth knowledge of the institution’s ethos, principles, and operations. He has educated multiple generations of students through the MBA, Master of Finance, and MPhil in Finance programmes and has fostered close ties with the alumni network of the Business School and the broader University community.
