The Leader of the House, Minister Bimal Ratnayake told Parliament that the ruling party has decided to give an opportunity to appoint a member from the Opposition to the post of Chairman of the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA).
He said that the government will take over the position of Chairman of the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE). He added that the reason for this was that the affairs of the previous government must first be investigated.Meanwhile, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said that the Opposition should be given the post of head of the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) too.The Leader of the House said that the opposition’s representation in the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) will also be confirmed.
