ADB Country Director pledges to help overcome education sector challenges
Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya met Asian Development Bank (ADB) Sri Lanka Resident Mission Country Director Takafumi Kadono at the Prime Minister’s office yesterday. The discussions underscored ADB’s role as a key development partner and highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in advancing Sri Lanka’s national development priorities.
The Prime Minister emphasised the importance of developing school infrastructure, teacher training and assessment mechanisms. ADB reaffirmed its commitment to addressing challenges in the education sector through ongoing projects, including initiatives to enhance teacher and principal training.
The Sri Lankan delegation at the meeting included Prime Minister’s Secretary Pradeep Saputhanthri; Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education Ministry Secretary Nalaka Kaluwewe; Prime Minister’s Additional Secretary Sagarika Bogahawatta; Director General Samantha Bandara; ADB Division Acting Director Ranjith Garusinghe; Assistant Director of the ADB Division at the External Resources Department, Finance Ministry Dananji Amarasinghe; Economic Affairs Director at the Foreign Affairs Ministry Lashinka Dammullage.
