With a view to end the teacher shortage in the Sabaragamuwa Province more graduates were recruited to the Provincial Teacher Service recently.
Accordingly, the Appointment Letters for the recruitment of 154 graduates for the Sri Lanka Provincial Teacher Service were handed over by Sabaragamuwa Province Governor Champa Janaki Rajaratne at the Provincial Council Auditorium in Ratnapura on Monday (23).
These recruitments were made based on the results of the competitive examination and practical tests conducted by the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Public Service Commission on April 7, this year.
Accordingly, 1,114 graduates have been recruited in three phases for the Provincial Teachers Service so far.
Besides, 155 educationists and Higher National Diploma (HND) holders were recruited to the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Teacher Service this year. Deputy Minister Pradeep Sundaralingam, MPs Shantha Padmakumara and Sunil Rajapaksa, Sabaragamuwa Provincial Chief Secretary Mahinda S. Weerasuriya, Provincial Education Secretary B. A. C. Bamunuarachchi, Provincial Education Director Darshanee Iddamalgoda and a group of others participated.
