Matara assures support for ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ programme

The commencement of duties at the Matara District Secretariat for the year 2025, in line with the national programme ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ by prioritising religious observances, was held under the patronage of Matara District Secretary Ganesha Amarasinghe.

After performing religious rituals, the Maha Sangha and other clergy of the area hoisted the national flag and sang the national anthem and then joined the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ national programme live.

The District Secretary emphasised to the officials that it is the responsibility of all the officers of the District Secretariat to improve the living standards of the people of the Matara District through the implementation of the processes of poverty eradication, digitalisation and Clean Sri Lanka, and that they should be committed to fulfilling this task more effectively, with great enthusiasm, transparency and responsibility. Matara Additional District Secretary (Administration) Kusalaka Nanayakkara, Matara Additional District Secretary (Lands) Kanchana Thalpawila and the Matara District Secretariat staff participated in this event.
