The Colombo District Court yesterday issued an Enjoining Order on the Government Nursing Officers’ Association and its president, preventing them from engaging in an unjust and unlawful strike, disrupting the health service and violating the Employees’ Ordinance, as the COVID-19 pandemic intensifies.
The Order was issued by Colombo Chief District Judge Aruna Aluthge after considering a complaint filed by the Attorney General on behalf of the government.
The judge issued interim injunctions and notices to the accused and ordered them to produce their submissions to court on the February 24.
The enjoining order issued to the Nurses Association and its head Saman Ratnapriya will remain in effect until February 24.
