As part of the “Clean Sri Lanka” national programme, around 9,000 persons have downloaded the “e-Traffic” app introduced by the Sri Lanka Police to report traffic violations.
Police Spokesman SSP Buddhika Manathunga said around 600 complaints have been received through the “e-Traffic” app so far and investigations were immediately initiated.
He mentioned that 6,000 police officers have been assigned to traffic duties and the app helps identify the locations of these officers. Therefore, when someone sends a complaint to the Police, it can be directed to the officer closest to the incident location.
The Police spokesperson assured that there would be no data theft through this app and anyone interested can download it. They also expressed hope that, in the future, individuals who file complaints through the app will receive updated information on the status of their complaints. This app is not compulsory but is intended for those who wish to assist the Police in reducing traffic violations.
