Sabaragamuwa PC new Chief Secretary appointed

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has appointed E.K.A. Sunitha as the Chief Secretary of Sabaragamuwa Province, as Mahinda S. Weerasuriya, who was serving as the Chief Secretary of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council, is set to retire.

Accordingly, the relevant appointment letter was handed over to E.K.A. Sunitha by Secretary to the President, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, at the Presidential Secretariat on December 26, and therefore she assumed duties as the Chief Secretary of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council recently.

Sunitha has completed her first degree with a second class upper distinction in Sinhala from the University of Ruhuna and has also completed her Master’s degree in Sociology from the University of Kelaniya. She, who joined the Sri Lanka Administrative Service (SLAS) in 1998, has served as the Assistant Divisional Secretary of Heranathota, Canamalpala, Lunugamwehera, the Divisional Secretary of Lunugamwehera Okewela Hambantota, the Additional Government Agent of Hambantota, Monaragala, and as the Zonal Director of Divi Neguma project in Ampara Hambantota and Moneragala.

Sunitha has also served as the Council Secretary of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council and as the Secretary of the Provincial Agriculture Ministry and the Provincial Public Service Commission.

With this appointment Sunitha is the sixteenth (16) Chief Secretary of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council.
