Probe into LRC lands distributed since 2015

Lands and Irrigation Deputy Minister Dr. Susil Ranasinghe told Parliament yesterday that the Government will initiate a complete probe into all lands distributed through Land Reform Commission (LRC) from 2015 onwards since there have been various irregularities and malpractices with regard to the distribution of lands through the LRC.

The Deputy Minister said that this investigation will be conducted with the approval of the Cabinet and a Committee has already been appointed to conduct the investigation.

The Deputy Minister also said that the relevant investigation will be completed within three months. Accordingly, the Land Reforms Commission has stopped distributing lands until the investigation is completed, he said. He said that those involved in land matters may face difficulties due to this fact, but an investigation must be conducted into these alleged irregularities taking place in the distribution of lands.
