Emapta expands offshore staffing operations to Sri Lanka
Emapta, an Australian owned and largely Philippine-based offshore staffing company has recently opened its offices at Elegance Workspaces in Colombo 03. The new centre is part of Emapta’s expansion into South Asia which looks to tap into the growing labour force through remote working mechanisms.
Emapta’s launch in Sri Lanka was established with an event at the Elegance Workspaces in Colombo 03 on Queens Road. Country Manager Mano Jayachandran noted that the largest Philippine-based BPO had now expanded its reach to Sri Lanka. He said that the company began with the outsourcing of work from Australia to the Philippines and the expansion to Sri Lanka was an obvious extension of this trend. Jayachandran acknowledged the potential for employment that Emapta’s presence in Sri Lanka brings.
Emapta currently has over 450 customers and a staff base of over 4500. They are currently operational in 14 offices across the Philippines and represent the largest player in the sector. The Philippine’s is currently the largest outsourcing region in the APAC region. Jayachandran noted that Sri Lanka was selected due to its over 20,000 graduates produced annually with a special focus on people in the technology, accounting, and finance sectors. Emapta currently offers roles also for people in other disciplines.
Lead Talent Consultant Menaka Wanninayake noted that given initial feedback from the team in Manilla the company expects to double headcount by Q2 in 2022. The team in Sri Lanka was operational from November 2021 and so far the feedback has been positive. The team of 10 people currently helps counterpart offices based in Manila to serve clients globally including entities in the US, New Zealand, and Singapore. Wanninayake noted that with Emapta’s presence prospective job seekers can “stay in Sri Lanka with their loved ones while still getting world-class exposure.”
