JVP rhetoric cannot solve country’s problems – SJB
The JVP which has been in politics for the last 50 to 60 years only has experience in causing destruction and mayhem and not rebuilding the country, the Samagi Janabalavegaya (SJB) National Organiser, MP Tissa Attanayake said.
Attanayake said that the JVP’s claims they have answers for the present day problems faced by the country were mere rhetoric.
He was speaking to journalists after attending a ceremony at the Agalawatta Baptist Church on Saturday. “Different groups have stated that they can provide solutions to the current problems in the country. I saw the JVP making similar statements. I ask, is the JVP a new political movement? They are in their 50s and 60s in Sri Lankan politics. They held eight Ministries during the time of Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga. Four Cabinet Ministries, four Deputy Ministries. What has their Ministers and eight Deputy Ministers done for this country since then?”.
Attanayake said that in the 2004 Parliamentary election, the JVP got 39 seats in Parliament and were a part of the then government but the JVP could not match their words with deeds and their group was a complete failure.
