Jacques Gunawardena and Ushan Perera were adgudged the Best Rider and Best Driver respectively in the Ice-break 2022 moto racing championship worked off at the Anuradhapura, Saliyapura Gajaba Regiment track recently.
Sri Lanka Autosport Drivers Association (SLADA) conducted the event as their first event of 2022. Jacques proved his supremacy in MX 100-125 CC 2T and 175 250 CC 4T events to bag Best Rider award while Ushan Perera who became second in SL/GT 3500cc first event and won the first place in 3500cc second event was picked as the Best Driver.
The event saw 10 motorbike events and 10 car events.
Ace driver Ashan Silva dominated the SL/GT 3500cc first event right from the beginning to win the race, but was unfortunate to encounter a technical issue in his car and had to be satisfied with the second place.
Ishraq Wahab won the third place in 3500cc first race while experienced driver Aravinda Premadasa who has won 10 awards in this Gajaba track became third at the second 3500cc race.
The second fastest event of Ice Break 2022, SL/H 1600 cc saw Irfan Fuard winning the race while Irshad Faham won the second place. Kesara Godage who was the only competitor to race in motorbike and motor cars both events won the third place in SL/H 1600 cc event.
The only female representative on the meet Shehara Jayawardena competed at SL/H category.
