A 39-year-old woman has been arrested by the Police in connection with the shooting of a mother of three in Mathugama recently, Police said.
The suspect is accused of aiding and abetting the murder Chandima Dilhani Perera (40), a mother of three, who was shot dead inside a house in Mathugama on the night of February 15.
Two unidentified gunmen had entered her house and police believe they were intending to shoot her husband, a businessman in the area.
He was at home at the time of the incident but managed to survive with his children after locking himself and his children inside a room. Gun ammunition was found at the scene. The suspect woman had been arrested in the Nugegoda area and she is a resident of Matugama, police said.
Further investigations into the incident are being conducted by the Police.
