Yogendran Duckson Puslas, the Sri Lankan national soccer player bade adieu to this life under tragic circumstances.
The 31-year old Duckson was found dead in his private apartment in Male, where he was residing, while being contracted by his club Valancia to compete in the Dhivehi Premier League Tournamnet. The Maldivian Police is conducting further investigation into his death.
He hails from Mannar and was a sports-loving personality. He opted to dribble the football at a very young age and was a pillar of strength in any team he represented manning the last line of defense. He donned the New Young, Wennapuwa jersey during his club stint in many tournaments while also representing the national side for quite some time.
It has been a great loss for his family and to the country. The Football Sri Lanka officials have visited his family and made some financial contribution.
They are in the process of talking to their counterparts in the Maldives to expedite the release of his body in order to bring it down to the country, with the support of the Sri Lankan Government. He leaves behind his wife and a son. (AN)
