Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka has dismissed England captain Harry Brook’s criticism of the pitch used for the second ODI, saying he does not share the same assessment of the surface.
Speaking ahead of the third and final ODI, Asalanka noted that both teams scored more than 440 runs on the wicket, questioning how it could be described as a poor pitch.
He also referred to England’s collapse for 156 against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru in 2023, noting that similar criticism of the pitch had not been raised at the time.
Asalanka confirmed that star spinner Wanindu Hasaranga will return to the Sri Lanka XI for the series decider, boosting the home side’s bowling attack.
The three-match ODI series is currently level at 1-1 heading into the decider. (Newswire)
