Mainly fair weather over most parts of Sri Lanka today

Mainly fair weather will prevail over most parts of Sri Lanka today, while a few showers may occur in the coastal areas of the Western Province in the morning. 

According to the Department of Meteorology, showers or thundershowers are likely at a few places in the Southern Province and in the Ratnapura and Monaragala districts after 2.00 pm. 

Misty conditions can be expected in some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Western, Northwestern and North-central provinces and in the Galle, Matara, Monaragala, Mannar and Vavuniya districts in the morning.

Meanwhile, mainly fair weather will prevail over the sea areas around the island today.

Winds will be north-easterly in the sea areas from Kankesanthurai to Hambantota via Batticaloa. 

Winds will be north-westerly or variable in the other sea areas around the island. Wind speed will be 20-30 kmph.
