Facebook party raided, 39 youth held

Thirty-nine youth were arrested yesterday with drugs by the Wennappuwa Police after raiding a Facebook party held at a hotel in Waikkal Area.

 

A team of officers from the Kandy Divisional Anti-Corruption Unit of the police conducted the raid on the hotel said to be owned by a Kandy Municipal Councillor.

Among those arrested were aged 20 to 30.

 

The suspects were produced before the Marawila Magistrate’s Court and remanded till the 16th of this month.

 

Further investigations are being conducted by the Wenappuwa Police.
