Train services on Kelani Valley line to be restricted due to Cotta Road crossing repairs

Train services on the Kelani Valley railway line will be restricted from 9.30 a.m. on Saturday (6) until 7.30 a.m. on Sunday (7) due to essential rehabilitation work at the Cotta Road railway crossing between Baseline and Narahenpita railway stations.

The Department of Railways said the Cotta Road railway crossing will be completely closed to vehicular traffic during the period. Accordingly, train services between Colombo Fort and Narahenpita will not operate during the closure.

Three slow trains will operate from Narahenpita to Avissawella on Saturday (6), departing at 5.15 p.m. (Train No. 9262), 6.20 p.m. (Train No. 9264) and 8.30 p.m. (Train No. 9271).

On Sunday (7), three slow trains will operate from Avissawella to Colombo Fort, departing at 5.15 a.m. (Train No. 9649), 5.55 a.m. (Train No. 9641) and 6.25 a.m. (Train No. 9651).

The Railways Department apologised for the inconvenience caused to passengers and motorists and requested the public to use alternative routes while the railway crossing remains closed. (Newswire)
