Elderly man living alone found dead in Katugastota house

Police in Katugastota discovered the body of an 82‑year‑old man inside his residence in Balagolla after neighbours reported a foul odour emanating from the house.

According to the Police, investigating officers opened a locked door and found the deceased in one of the rooms. 

The Police said the man had been living alone and is believed to have died several days earlier.

Following a magistrate’s examination, the body was sent to the Kandy Hospital mortuary for a post‑mortem.
