Heavy rain alert issued for 9 districts

Due to the active Southwest Monsoon conditions, the showery weather over the southwestern parts of the country is expected to continue.

Heavy showers or above 100 mm likely at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.

Therefore, general public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by heavy rain, strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
