The Attorney General’s Department today opposed a request made by lawyers for former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s son Yoshitha Rajapaksa seeking an order to prevent the hearing of a money laundering case filed against him in the Colombo High Court.
The objection was raised before the Supreme Court when Yoshitha Rajapaksa’s appeal was taken up for consideration.
Appearing on behalf of the Attorney General, Deputy Solicitor General Janaka Bandara strongly opposed the request, arguing against halting proceedings under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. (Newswire)
