The General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), Sagara Kariyawasam, appeared before the Colombo Central Crimes Investigation Bureau (CID) this morning in connection with an ongoing inquiry.
Kariyawasam was summoned to provide a statement regarding remarks allegedly made concerning the Inspector General of Police (IGP). He arrived at the CID earlier today to assist with the investigation.
The inquiry was initiated recently on the instructions of the IGP, after reports surfaced of a statement said to have been made about him. The CID has since launched a formal probe into the matter.
The investigation follows concerns over remarks made by Kariyawasam regarding an alleged threat to the IGP, which authorities consider serious and requiring further investigation. (Newswire)
