The 21st commemoration of the late former Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar was held today with a religious almsgiving ceremony organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism together with the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies (LKIIRSS).

The ceremony took place under the leadership of seven members of the Maha Sangha, including Royal Pandit Venerable Kandy Amitha Gaveshi Thera of Colombo Sri Sambodhi Viharaya.

In his sermon, Venerable Amitha Gaveshi recalled the late Minister’s distinguished service in diplomacy, his dedication to national unity, and his mission for the country. Pirith chanting followed, with blessings invoked for the future work of the Institute.

Among those present were Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath; the late Lakshman Kadirgamar’s wife and lifetime member of the LKIIRSS Board of Governors Sugandhi Kadirgamar; and Acting Executive Director of LKIIRSS Tushara Rodrigo. Members of the Board of Governors, senior officials of the Ministry, and staff of the Institute also attended. (Newswire)
