Sudden turn ends in tragedy: Mother & 7-year-old daughter among 3 killed

Three people, including a seven-year-old girl, were killed following a collision between a three-wheeler and a car on the New Kandy Road in Delgoda, police said.

The accident occurred on August 19 when the three-wheeler, travelling from Biyagama towards Delgoda, made a sudden right turn and collided with a car approaching from the opposite direction.

The three-wheeler driver, two women and two children travelling in the vehicle sustained serious injuries and were admitted to the Udupila Hospital.

The driver, a woman and a seven-year-old girl later succumbed to their injuries.

Police identified the deceased as a 69-year-old resident of Delgoda and a 39-year-old woman and her seven-year-old daughter from Siyambalape.

A young girl travelling in the car was also injured and admitted to the Ragama Hospital.

Meegahawatta Police are conducting further investigations into the accident. (Newswire)
