Sri Lanka batter Sonal Dinusha has entered the Test cricket record books after becoming the first player to score centuries in both innings of a Test match while batting at No. 6 or lower.

Dinusha achieved the rare feat during the second Test against India, completing his second century of the match to continue an outstanding series with the bat.

The milestone means no player in the history of Test cricket had previously registered hundreds in both innings of the same Test while batting at No. 6 or lower.

Dinusha has emerged as one of Sri Lanka’s standout performers in the series, repeatedly delivering under pressure from the lower middle order.

His latest century was also his third hundred of the series, further underlining his remarkable run of form against India. (Newswire)
