Eighteen year old, Shalini Amanthi Kodithuwakku of St. Anthonys’ Girls School,Katugastota is a student of Grade Twelve class in the science stream and a talented Girls Cricketer and an Athlete of the School.
She started playing Cricket in the year 2015 under the Coaching of Susantha Basnayake, Cricket Coach of the School with the Assistance of MIC Wasanthi Jinadasa and Lakmini Amarasekera under the Captaincy of Sanduni Nisansala. Shalini being a left arm fast bowler and a right hand opening batswoman was a member of the Girls’ under 19 National Pool in the year 2021/22 and currently the Vice Captain of the School Cricket team. They secured the second place at the national Youth Sports Festival in the year 2016/17 at the Provincial Womens’ Cricket tournament held in connection with the Under Twenty Provincial Sports Festival.
At the School Inter House Sports Meet in the Open Cricket tournament in 2018 they got the third place and at the Singer 2017/18 Cricket tournament they became 3rd Runners-up and secured the 1st place at the Provincial Sports Meet in the same year.
Shalini was a team member of the Kandy Cricket Queen Trophy Cricket match in 2018 and they became Champions and the match was held at Pallekelle International Stadium and again became the Cricket Champion at the Provincial Level Sports Meet in 2019/20 at the Cricket tournament. In the Under 23 Inter District Womens’ Cricket Tournament conducted by the Sri lanka Cricket held on 20th to 25th February 2019 Shalini represented the Kandy district Cricket team.
In the year 2019/20 she captured 4 wickets for 34 runs for her School against Mahamaya Girls’ School,Kandy and 3 wickets for 20 runs against Rathnavali Balika, 2 wickets for 18 runs against Wadduwa Central and in the year 2020/21 against Nugawela Central she got 3 wickets and against Bakamuna Central she bagged 4 wickets. and in 2021’22 against Leliambe Central school 3 wickets for 28 runs.
Shalini was involved in Athletics too in the School and in 2017 she was placed Second place in High Jump, in the following year she got the 2nd place in Long Jump, 2019 again 2nd place in Long Jump and 3rd place in 100 metres. At the School Relay team too she secured the 2nd place in the 4 x 400 Relay event at the School Inter House Sports meet as a member of Maurice House.
