Police Clearance Certificates now available through Local Police Stations

Sri Lanka Police has announced that applicants may now obtain Police Clearance Certificates through their nearest police stations, following the temporary suspension of the online application system due to essential maintenance work.

According to the Police Media Division, applicants must first visit the official website www.police.lk, access the “Clearance Certificate” section under “Digital Services,” and download the application form. 

The completed form should then be submitted at the nearest police station along with the National Identity Card (NIC), passport, and birth certificate. If the name on the NIC differs from the passport, an affidavit must also be provided.

Applicants residing abroad may authorize a close relative to submit the documents on their behalf. 

Police station officers will assist in entering the required information into the system, after which applicants must verify the accuracy of the data and confirm it with their signature. A fee of Rs. 5,000/- will be charged, with an official receipt issued.

The Police state that applications should no longer be submitted via the previously introduced email address, and those who have already applied through email are requested to resubmit their applications at a police station. 

Foreign nationals may apply through the Sri Lankan Embassy in their respective countries.

Authorities cautioned that once information is entered into the system, police officers will not be able to make amendments, urging applicants to carefully check all details before signing.
