CID arrests 73‑year‑old over Rs. 10 Mn Colombo forged property deeds

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested a suspect in connection with a financial fraud involving forged property deeds in the Barnes area of Colombo 07.

The CID’s Financial Investigation Division launched the probe following a complaint that fraudulent documents had been prepared to misappropriate funds linked to two properties.

Acting on the investigation, officers arrested the suspect yesterday in Kalutara town.

The suspect is a 73‑year‑old resident of Kalutara, who had allegedly presented the forged deeds in court proceedings and sold the properties for Rs. 10 million, misappropriating the proceeds.

The CID confirmed that further investigations are being carried out by its Financial Investigation Division. (Newswire)
