Capacity‑Building Programme for Sri Lankan dairy farmers concludes in India

A 20‑member delegation of dairy farmers from Sri Lanka has completed a specialised Training and Capacity‑Building Programme in India, held from August 16–23, 2026, under India’s ongoing bilateral cooperation initiative.

The programme, conducted by the Government of India at the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) in Anand, Gujarat, was organised following the commitment made by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his April 2025 visit to Sri Lanka, to offer 700 customised training slots annually for Sri Lankan professionals.

Over the week‑long training, participants engaged in technical and thematic sessions covering the entire dairy value chain, including animal breeding technologies, quality assurance, feeding practices, and balanced nutrition. The sessions focused on enhancing practical skills, strengthening industry exposure, and building advanced production capabilities.

As part of experiential learning, the delegation visited leading institutions and facilities such as IDMC‑Bulk Milk Cooler Unit, Amul TMR factory, Kaira Milk Union, and NDDB’s Product & Process Development Laboratory, gaining insights into India’s modern dairy ecosystem and production technologies.
