Suspect arrested with 8 firearms linked to murders of Dan Priyasad and his brother

Police investigations have revealed that a suspect arrested in Wabada, Kadawatha, with eight firearms, ammunition and heroin is the main suspect in the murder of slain activist Dan Priyasad’s brother.

Police said the suspect’s father is also the main suspect in the murder of Dan Priyasad.

The suspect was arrested at a rented house in Wabada following a tip-off received by the Western Province North Crime Division.

During questioning, police recovered more than 2 kilograms of heroin, 534 rounds of live ammunition of various types, eight locally manufactured firearms and two pairs of handcuffs.

According to police, the suspect claimed he had been storing the weapons and drugs on the instructions of a criminal hiding overseas and distributing them to various individuals as directed.

Police said investigations indicate that the suspect was the main person responsible for transporting firearms and narcotics for the overseas-based criminal. (Newswire)
