Namal granted bail in Airbus money laundering case, remains in custody

The Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court on Sept. 30 granted MP Namal Rajapaksa bail in the money laundering case linked to the Airbus deal, ordering cash bail of Rs. 500,000 and a surety of Rs. 100 million.

However, Rajapaksa will remain in remand custody as he has not been granted bail in separate proceedings.

The bail order issued by the Fort Magistrate’s Court applies to the money laundering case and does not secure his release from custody. (Newswire)
