White House press secretary Katie Zacharia has been removed from her position after just five days on the job, following a controversial first week marked by criticism of her performance and questions over her professional credentials.

A White House official confirmed on Friday, October 16, that Zacharia was “transitioning out” of the role, making her tenure one of the shortest in White House history.

President Donald Trump said he had advised Zacharia to reconsider remaining in the position, arguing that she had been treated unfairly by the media.

Zacharia, who replaced Karoline Leavitt, faced criticism following her first White House briefing on October 13, which lasted approximately 14 minutes.

Questions were also raised about her legal credentials after she acknowledged that she had not passed the bar examination, despite previously being described as an attorney.

According to Reuters, Zacharia’s departure makes her the shortest-serving White House press secretary in US history. (Newswire)
