“Ranil’s economic adviser now advising current President”- Harsha questions Govt.

Opposition MP Harsha de Silva has questioned the government over its reliance on economic adviser Duminda Hulangamuwa, claiming that the same individual had served as an adviser during former President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s administration.

Speaking in Parliament today (21), MP de Silva questioned the government’s economic direction, referring to claims that the current administration was receiving guidance from an economic expert.

He pointed out that Duminda Hulangamuwa, whom he described as the government’s economic expert, had also been involved in economic policymaking during Wickremesinghe’s presidency.

“Who is the President’s economic whiz now? Duminda Hulangamuwa,” the Opposition MP remarked.

Directly addressing Minister Sunil Handunnetti, MP de Silva questioned whether the current administration was relying on the same economic adviser as the previous government.

“Isn’t your economic whiz the same as Ranil Wickremesinghe’s? Isn’t it Duminda Hulangamuwa? If it is not, then say it,” he challenged.

The Opposition MP also criticised the government’s handling of economic matters, claiming that the country was facing serious difficulties.

Meanwhile, MP Harsha de Silva accused the government of failing to fulfil its promises concerning the Parate law, the proposed bad bank mechanism and insolvency legislation. (Newswire)
