A chariot service has begun in the Jaffna District as a solution to the severe fuel shortage.
In the past people used to travel by cart and with the advancement of technology the number of carts decreased with the advent of vehicles. However, with the current fuel crisis hampering transport, many people are looking for alternative transport modes. The horse and bullock cart has returned as a mode of transport, as a result. In the Jaffna District, some people have taken steps to activate the cart service using horses for urban transport and the owners say that this service will be in high demand in the future.
And also in Muthur in the Trincomalee District a resident has made a bicycle rickshaw, and it is operated within the Muthur areas as a means of transport.
