The present tourists who are in the country are continuing on their various excursions and beach holidays uninterrupted.
The people of Sri Lanka have been calling upon the President to step down in light of the economic crisis prevalent in the country.
There were many protest rallies around the island culminating in the capital Colombo where the people ended up storming the president’s official residence demanding that he stepped down.
They succeeded in achieving this goal around midday on Saturday and there has been peaceful protest throughout,” SLAITO said.
“The Prime Minister has called for an immediate meeting of the party leaders in parliament to discuss the way forward.” “We once again stress that the situation in the country remains peaceful and all tourists that are in the country and those who wish to travel.”
