Zahira cruises to easy win over Lumbini

Zahira College produced their best performance this season as they defeated Lumbini MV 37-3 in their Inter-Schools Under-20 ‘B’ Division League Rugby Tournament fixture played at the Air Force Grounds in Ratmalana.

The Zahirians dominated the game from the kick-off as they penetrated their opponents defence quite regularly and touched down on seven occasions while conceding only a solitary penalty.

However, Zahira could have won the game even by a much bigger margin had they converted all seven tries but instead they added the extra points only on one occasion.

Meanwhile, Mahanama College pulled off a hard-fought 12-8 victory over St. Aloysius College, Galle in another ‘B’ Division encounter played at Galle.

The winners collected their points from one goal and one try while St. Aloysius responded with a try and one penalty.

St. Benedict’s College and St. Sylvester’s College figured in a thrilling 17-17 draw in their Inter-Schools ‘B’ Division rugby match played at Kotahena.

Both teams collected their points from one goal and two tries.

Sri Sumangala College, Kandy maintained their impressive record in the ‘B’ Division Tournament with another impressive 36-10 victory over Ananda College in their match played at Ratmalana.

The winners collected their points from three goals and three tries after having led 15-0 at half time while the Anandians responded with one goal and one penalty.
