On March 26, 2017, while the doctor’s wife went for night shift duty, the maid had given birth to a child.
According to the police, the doctor had allegedly strangled the infant and then had wrapped the body in a piece of cloth and had given it to the maid asking her to dispose it in the lagoon.
The maid has confessed that as she was unable to walk due to severe pain, the dead body was taken out of the house and thrown into the nearby drinking well.
The doctor’s wife after seeing the maid lying in a blood scattered room had taken steps to hospitalize the maid.
The doctors who examined her there stated that an abortion had been performed on her.
The doctor’s wife later had sent her to her hometown in Ampara after paying the salary due to her.
A few days later, due to a stench coming out from the drinking well, the doctor had employed a worker to empty the water from the well and the decomposed body of the baby was found.
