Another suspect in PS member’s murder arrested

The Western Province South Range Crime Division arrested another suspect in connection with the murder of Kotikawatta-Mulleriyawa PS member Sumudu Rukshan at Himbutana yesterday.

The arrested man had facilitated the shooters of the deceased to commit the crime. Investigations have revealed that he had provided them with weapons, money and accommodation.

The suspect is a 22-year-old resident of Perakum Mawatha, Egodamulla, Kolonnawa.

He has very close contacts with the notorious drug kingpins operating from abroad, police said.

Stating to the police that he had not known the shooters until he met them on the day before the shooting, the suspect has told police that the shooter told him that he was from Midigama in Matara.

The shooter also had a tattoo on one of his arms, the suspect had told the police. However, police are yet to arrest the shooters who were involved in this murder. The Western Province South Range Crime Division is conducting further investigations.
