Vinuda and Oneli win under-15 chess titles

Sri Lanka school Individual Chess championship-2022 was held successfully earlier this month at Dhammissara National School and Presidents College Nattandiya.

The above competition was organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Chess Association under the guidance of the Tournament Director Ranjith Wickramaratne. The event was held on a Seven round Swiss-System, in the age groups of 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, and 20. Approximately 2260 students participated from all parts of the Island. Director of North-West provincial education A.S.K. Jayalath attended as chief guest and honoured the winners by presenting certificates and medals.

Under Nine champion; H.M.C.S.B Herath. Maliyadeva College Kurunagala. (7 Points)

Under Eleven champion;. K. Gangul Wimalarathne, Kingwood College Kandy. (6.5 points)

Under Thirteen champion; B. Janukshan, Jaffna Hindu College (7 points)

Under Fifteen champion; M.D.Vinuda Shenal Gunathilaka, Royal college Colombo (7 points)

Under Seventeen champion;. Pesandu Rashmitha Liyanage, D.S. Senanayake College Colombo (6 points)

Under Twenty champion;. R.K.T. Dissanayaka, Dharmaraja College Kandy.(6.5 points)

Girls:

Under Seven champion;. M.K.T. Isali Pinipa Leelananda, Sumedha College Gampaha. (7 points)

Under Nine champion; Rahansa H.P. Chanuli, East Arawwala Dharmapala M.V. (7 points)

Under Eleven champion;. Devindya Oshini, Wycherley International School Colombo (7 points)
