More than 80 teams are expected to take part at the MCA Open Cricket Sixes tournament conducted by the Mercantile Cricket Association. The event once again sponsored by Citizens Development Business Finance PLC (CDB). The MCA Open cricket sixes will commence on August 30 and conclude with the finals at the MCA grounds on September 4.
The Executive Director and Chief Emergent Business Officer Karthik Elangovan said CDB always very keen to associate with cricket and for the fourth consecutive time they are sponsoring this MCA Open Cricket Sixes which attract more than 80 teams at the Mercantile sector. We have own CDB cricket team at Mercantile A division tournament which includes several National cricketers. We are very keen to help MCA which always give fine service to conduct Mercantile cricket tournaments while we, CDB associate with them to make this event a success.
The President of the MCA Nalin Wickramasinghe said conducting this type of sixes tournament is very difficult but my MCA tournament committee worked for their best to make it a reality while CDB sponsorship is very valuable.
The team participation is very high while more teams are expected to join this tournament. Over 80 teams under Tier A and Tier B segment will compete while A matches will be held at MCA, Thurstan grounds and Colts grounds with 12 teams playing 15 matches at each location. The tier B segment comprising of 72 teams will play 96 matches at 5 locations MCA, Wesley grounds and D.S Senanayake College cricket grounds as well at Sapper grounds Mattegoda and Dharmapala College grounds Pannipitiya.
