The Under 13 Cricket Captain Thenuja Herath

Greenhill International School,Kandy started cricket in the Under Thirteen category and a number of Cricket players joined the Under 13 Cricket team under the coaching of Kolitha Dissanayake, former cricketer of Kalutara Tissa Maha Vidyalaya who played cricket with Thilakaratne Dilshan, former Sri Lanka Test and ODI Captain at the Town Club in Kalutara and Kolitha gained a fine knowledge of the game of cricket from Dilshan and after leaving School he was able to gain vital experience at a club in Bahrain from 2001 to 2007.

When Kolitha returned to Sri lanka as an all rounder he qualified as a Level One Cricket Coach and moved to Kandy and started coaching school cricket teams while starting his own Cricket Academy. He took over the Under 13 Cricket team of Greenhill from Nimal Seneviratne and the School team did practices in the BDR Rajan Playgrounds,Mahaiyawa,Kandy and Dr.Lalith Navaratne supported him to start a cricket pool at the School.

The Under 13 team has been practising for some time and they will be able to play in the current Under 13 Cricket tournament organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association and this tournament is scheduled to start this month. They have organised three cricket matches in the first round under the Captaincy of a fine all-round Cricketer, Thenuja Herath and the Vice Captain is the opening Batsman Akil Abdeen.
