National Junior Netball Championships from Nov. 5-6
Thirty eight netball teams divided into eight groups will compete at the National Junior Netball Championships which is powered by Dialog Axiata PLC at the Gallella Public grounds at Polonnaruwa this weekend (Nov 5-6).
The Dialog Junior Netball Championship targets players who are below the age of 20 from all over the country and is one of the major tournaments conducted by the Netball Federation of Sri Lanka (NFSL) annually, to identify talented players, coaches, and umpires to train them to the next level, said Victoria Lakshmi President of the NFSL who also the Vice President of the Asian Netball Federation.
This tournament is scheduled as a talent search to select young players for the National Youth team to participate in the Asian Youth Championship in South Korea next year as well as the World Junior Netball championship held in New Zealand.
As the principal sponsor, Dialog Axiata has made arrangements to Live stream the matches via ThePapare.com, and Dialog ViU mobile app and will also be shown LIVE on Dialog TV Channel 140 and its huge boost for the Netball players and Netball lovers in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka once again emerged as Asian Champions and we wanted to get successful results at the Asian Junior and World Junior events and this talent search tournament is a real benefit for the upcoming players, added Netball President. This is a very hard period and we appreciate Dialog Axiata who came as the official sponsor of the Netball, said Victoria. The Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe and Secretary Dr. Amal Harsha de Silva will grace this event on the final day.
