Central Province recorded a consolation 53-0 victory over Uva Province in their SLR Under-24 League Rugby Tournament last preliminary round game played at the Vincent Dias Stadium in Badulla yesterday.
Central Province dominated the game from the kick-off and collected their points from four goals and five tries after having built up a commanding 36-0 lead at half time.
This was also the first win for the Central Province in this 10-team tournament but both teams failed to make it to the knock-out stage, which will be worked off during the weekend.
The Petersons SC will take on Southern Province in the Bowl final at St. Aloysius’ College Grounds in Galle while the Old Wesleyites SC will face North Western Province in the Plate final at the Maliyadeva College Grounds in Kurunegala with both games scheduled for Saturday. Meanwhile, the unbeaten Science ‘Maroons’ will confront Western Province in the Cup Championship final on Sunday at the Police Park in Bambalapitiya.
