Mount Lavinia Hotel an iconic landmark in the Sri Lankan Tourism catalogue will re-open on December 2 after being closed for more than two years.
Chairman and Managing Director of the Mount Lavinia Hotel (Pvt) Ltd, Sanath Ukwatte said that due to overwhelming requests they first offered the hotel as a Covid-19 quarantine center. There after it was operated as a mini hospital.
“However with huge repeater client other travel sector stake holders we have now decided to reopen the hotel from December 2, 2022 after a refurbishment.” “We have opened around 60 rooms and all the other rooms including Suites will be fully operational by mid-January 2023.”
He said that the Mount Lavinia Hotel is a popular destination for weddings and dining. These two areas are now fully operational and several end of the year events too have been organized both in the hotel and in the beach.
Ukwatte said that their other hotel in Robinson Island Beruwela too is reopened again.
“The two properties were marketed at the recently concluded WTM in London and out forward booking are very impressive.” *(SS) *
