No power cuts for tourism zones

Minister of Tourism Harin Fernando said that 29 tourism zones would be gazetted soon.

These new zones would be able to have easy access to obtain the soft liquor licenses. In addition, one of the key advantages in these zones would be that some of the popular zones in the South and Ella would not have any power cuts during the night time, he told the Daily news Business.

Currently one of our power cuts are imposed during the day and night time.

The Minister also recalled that in a bid to ensure a smooth floor of transport a special fuel quota system was introduced to the tourism sector. He said tourism is picking up with several new airlines and cruises patronizing Sri Lanka and also requested groups and the opposition parties to step aside their petty political differences and refrain from staging uncalled for protests that will drive away tourists especially in the season.
